Minnow

Minnow creates IoT devices that support secure, contact-free food delivery. As a UX Designer, I lead design initiatives on consumer and admin facing applications. My work includes collaborating with Product and User Research on user journeys, crafting a scalable design system for mobile and desktop, and working with Engineering to ship our products.


Problem Overview

After the onset of the pandemic, people took measures to social distance and the demand for food delivery and pickup increased. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, many delivery companies implemented measures to keep users and drivers safe. Our founder identified the need for smart cubbies that support this system.

Use Cases

Residential Buildings
We partner with residential buildings that use Minnow Pods as an amenity to tenants. Much like an Amazon Locker, food orders are placed in cubbies located in the lobbies of apartment buildings.


Empathy Mapping and User Journeys

I collaborated with Product to outline empathy maps and user journeys. This process helped our team align on the core user experience for our customers.

Onboarding

When Minnow Pods are installed in a new building, tenants are prompted to sign up for an account. Account creation is the primary spot for us to educate the users on how our system works. The information below is provided on web and via email.

Designing the Delivery Experience

Drivers access our product through a QR code scanner placed on every pod. This limits friction points from driver account creation and allows Minnow to be compatible with any delivery service. Cubbies are automatically assigned for ADA compliance.

Designing the Pickup Experience

Tenants receive SMS hyperlinks that automatically open the cubby door.

Designing the Admin Experience

Property managers need admin tools to properly manage their pod. This dashboard helps managers view the status of their pod and complete various actions such as clearing expired orders. Minnow deliveries expired after four hours to comply with FDA regulations.
